We performed a test upgrade of our STAR drupal to v6.10 (from 5.2). It seems that we didn't find any major problems with modules we are using in STAR although some minor problems were found and most of them are already fixed.  Test version of this upgrade is available at drupal.star.bnl.gov/STARdev.

* note, this version of STAR drupal is not up to date (dated on 04/26/09)

We'd like to ask few users to test it and send us comments (drupal-hn@)

We didn't add many new features at this moment. Mostly ugpraded modules.

One feature that we were asked to add was to allow users to change comment viewing options. New version of Drupal provides this feature so now one can set the number of comments per page, date ordering, see e.g.

Rough schedule of an upgrade:

If there are no major complains/problems with a new version of Drupal we can have an offical upgrade on Friday (05/01/09) or Monday.  During the upgrade, STAR drupal won't be available up to few hours. In case, something goes wrong we can always go back to the previous version w/o loosing any new content create in drupal.

 After we are done with an upgrade, we will test modules that allow to manipulate with an access to a node for specific group of users (including update/delete). We made already one attempt to do it but new modules don't  seem to be working well with og module so we need to find a solution to this problem before we move on.
