BSMD Performance Table
For plots, see here.
If a fill does not appear in this table, that means that it was either less than 4 hours, contained no runs with non-zero-suppressed BSMD data, or (for some fills on March 28 and April 3) the monitoring code was down during the fill.
Day | Hour | Fill | PedRun# | 1stLongRun#,nEv | LastLongRun#,nEv | nBadCr1 | nBadCr2 | nBadCr3 | nBadCr4 | nBadCr5 | nBadCr6 | nBadCr7 | nBadCr8 | nBadCr9 | nBadCr10 | nBadCr11 | nBadCr12 | Remarks(BSMD) | Remarks(BPRS) |
73 | 11 AM | 10368 | none (using 10071072) | 10073040,54 | 10073044,126 | 260 | 550 | 215 | 100 | 120 | 140 | 40 | 170 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Note that no BSMD channels are masked out yet. Eta RDO 1 softId 2200-2250 are especially bad. Not much pedestal drift (MPVs are <0 more often than >0 though). Bug in calculating RMS for BSMD channels: now fixed. Bug caused BSMDP MPVs to be set equal to BSMDE MPVs, so the nBadCr numbers for this fill are not accurate: now fixed. |
Some channels have very high RMS, >10 and up to 20 or more in some cases (most have RMS~2). Crate 20E has some structure in the 2D ADC plots. |
74 | 6 PM | 10371 | none (using 10071072) | 10074007,47 | 10074025,89 | 190 | 325 | 280 | 130 | 128 | 122 | 45 | 144 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Still no masked out channels. Eta softId 2200-2250 are definitely bad. |
Almost no ped drift |
74-75 | 5:30 PM | 10373 | 10074059 | 1007467,147 | 10075018,175 | 205,165 | 315,275 | 150,115 | 70,65 | 35,70 | 95,110 | 40,25 | 110,100 | 0,0 | 0,0 | 0,0 | 2,21 |
Line in ADC vs. cap at ~100 in RDO 4? Still no masking. Oscillatory behavior persists in Phi RDO 7 (p. 65). |
Something funny in SoftId 3150-3200, 3640-3720? Still no masking. |
76 | 3:15 AM | 10382 | 10074059 | 10076027,95 | 10076067,70 | 268,222 | 312,318 | 208,193 | 100,130 | 137,143 | 92,114 | 38,66 | 155,480 | 0,0 | 0,0 | 0,0 | 19,20 |
Still no masking. Eta softId 2150-2250 look even worse. Either bad pedestals or significant drift for Eta softId 12750-12900, 13301-13351, Phi softId 300-450. Between the first and last long run, Eta and Phi softId 16651-16800 died. Most likely this means a dead module. This explains the significant increase in dead channels over the course of the fill. Oscillatory behavior now visible in parts of Phi RDO 0 (p. 44), 2 (p. 50), 3 (p. 53), 4 (p. 56), 5 (p. 59), 6 (p. 62), 7 (p.65). Some pronounced sawtooth oscillations in RMS in Phi RDO 0, 1, 2, 4. |
Some channels now masked. There appears to be a line in the ADC vs. cap plot for crate 20E at ADC~185. Some channels in softId 3940-3980 seem to have displaced pedestals. |
76-77 | 3:30 PM | 10383 | 10074059 | 10076136,232 | 10076161,182 | 175,195 | 308,337 | 148,162 | 58,80 | 109,71 | 61,59 | 44,44 | 87,106 | 0,0 | 0,0 | 0,0 | 19,13 |
Still no masking. Ped drift/bad ped/bad channel for Eta softId 300-400, 4200-4350, 13200-13350, 16050-16200, Phi softId 300-450, 13200-13350, 14100-14700, 15600-16050. Eta softId 2150-2250 still pretty bad. Oscillatory behavior in raw distributions and RMS persists (see above). |
Band in ADC vs. cap plot persists (see above). Potential bad channels in softId range 2650-2700. Displaced pedestals in PSD 20E persist (see above). |
77 | 6 AM | 10386 | 10077044 | 10077014,133 | 10076104,238 | 107,173 | 177,252 | 90,123 | 29,46 | 104,63 | 29,53 | 24,48 | 53,63 | 0,0 | 1,0 | 25,18 | 0,2 |
Eta softId 8101-8150, 1801-1950, 12751-12900, has badly displaced pedestals. Oscillatory behavior in Phi crates persists and is even more pervasive (see above). |
Band in ADC vs. cap for PSD-1E at ADC~180: could be associated with bad ped at 2660-2700. PSD-20E pedestals look fine but there is still something strange: strong sawtooth pattern in RMS. |
78-79 | 6 PM | 10398 | 10078067 | 10078092,133 | 10079017,97 | 190,192 | 167,185 | 130,181 | 59,74 | 28,98 | 44,51 | 23,14 | 67,102 | 0,0 | 0,0 | 0,0 | 1,1 |
Significant Ped drift in Eta and Phi SoftId 13201-13350. Oscillatory behavior in Phi Crate ADCs is gone (or at least less visible), but it persists in the RMS. |
PSD-20E still looks funny though sawtooth pattern less visible (possibly drowned out by a few large-RMS channels). |
79 | 3:30 AM | 10399 | 10079021 | 10079042,112 | 10079086,91 | 324,254 | 236,272 | 116,164 | 55,66 | 39,79 | 50,40 | 37,25 | 82,81 | 0,0 | 0,0 | 0,0 | 1,1 |
Bad peds: Eta softId 8101-8150, 12751-12900, 13201-13350, Phi softId 13201-13350. Phi RDOs: see previous fill. |

Bad peds for Eta softId 7401-7501, 13201-13350, 12751-12900, 12151-12300, Phi softId 13201-13350. Eta softId 2150-2250 still looks horrible. ADC oscillations in Phi RDOs are back in softId 4951-5100, 12151-12300. Sawtooth oscillations in the RMS are also visible. |
see previous fill: also, bad peds for softId 3540-3620. |
80-81 | 11:30 PM | 10407 | 10080085 | 10081013,78 | 10081055,98 | 268,204 | 527,276 | 139,154 | 88,93 | 121,72 | 66,53 | 58,59 | 85,106 | 0,0 | 0,0 | 0,0 | 0,6 |
Very bad peds for Eta softId 8160-8190. Eta softId 1950-2250 was very bad for early runs (thus the large number of bad channels): the problem seems to have been corrected by the end of the fill, though 2150-2250 look bad as always. Usual problems with 12750-12900, 13200-13350. See remarks on Phi RDOs from previous fills. |
Line in ADC vs. cap at ADC~190 has for PSD 20E has (maybe) reappeared. Comments for previous fill also apply. |
81-82 | 6 PM | 10412 | 10081076 | 10081117,129 | 10082093,82 | 187,178 | 174,231 | 140,470 | 48,95 | 67,126 | 53,57 | 52,61 | 62,410 | 0,0 | 0,0 | 0,0 | 0,0 |
Ped-subtracted ADC vs. cap for RDO 4 has a surprising amount of counts for ADC <0. Eta softId 8160-8190 still bad, 2150-2250 remains bad, 12750-12900 and 13200-13350 and Phi softId 13301-13350 still have problems, though not as serious. New problems: Eta softId 13951-14050, 17350-17400, phi SoftId 10350-10450 has split peds. Modules containing softId 5401-5550, and 16651-16800, died during the run. This explains the large increase in the number of dead channels. Oscillations in Phi RDO ADC no longer visible but sawtooth oscillations in RMS remain. |
Line in ADC vs. cap not seen: otherwise, see previous comments about PSD 20E. |
82-83 | 10 PM | 10415 | 10082119 | 10083013,92 | 10083056,153 | 203,202 | 300,241 | 187,198 | 69,55 | 109,79 | 50,58 | 24,39 | 105,104 | 0,0 | 0,0 | 0,0 | 1,0 |
See previous fill's list of continuing problems (8160-8190 and 12750-12900 excepted). The problems seen in eta 13951-14050 and phi 10350-10450 in the previous fill remain. New problems: eta+phi softId 5401-5550 has all values 0 (note that this means that this problem does not show up in the bad channel counts), a couple of bad channels in eta 14520-14525. Phi ADC oscillations still not visible but RMS oscillations remain and the spikiness of the ADC distributions that I assume they are associated with is even more pronounced. |

Crate 2 still off. Only 4 capacitors appear to have been used for this fill, or at least for these two runs. Eta softId 13201-13350 bad as usual. Ped drift for eta 15151-15300. See above for BSMDP oscillations, plus oscillations now visible for 4951-5100, 2251-2700, 9451-9600, 13051-13500, 13651-13800, 14701-14851, 15151-15300, 15751-15900, 16051-16200, 16651-16800 |

Crate 2 is back on. Usual bad peds Eta softId regions, plus 350-400 (newly restored thanks to Crate 2 being back). However, 2150-2250 looks better than it used to. SoftId 16651-16800 turned off during the run. BSMDP ADC oscillation visible again, see e.g. 7351-7500, 8401-8550, 8701-8850, 6601-6750, 2251-2400, 9451-9600, 13051-13200, 13651-13800, 14701-14850, 15151-15300, 15601-15750, 15751-15900, 16051-16200. Eta softId 1470-1500, 6451-6600, 15301-15450, Phi softId 6451-6600 have bad peds. Something is wrong with the module containing 16651-16800, but I'm not sure what: if it's the pedestals, they're not just displaced but are totally wrong. Usual bad eta softId regions, less phi ADC oscillation but it's still visible in some places. |

More values at high and low ADC than expected for ADC vs. cap plot for RDO 7? Low values are probably due to a dead module. SoftId 901-1050, 4651-4800, 5251-5400, 16651-16800 appear to be completely off, all values are 0. SoftId 16051-16200 turned off during the fill. Split/bad peds for softId 15751-15900. Bad peds for Eta softId 17371-17400, Phi softId 15661-15690 |

Eta softId 1351-1500, 6451-6600, 13951-14100, 15751-15900 are fine but 1501-1650, 17101-17250 are bad. Modules 16051-16200, 16651-16800 were apparently on for pedestals but off during the fill (strange, because 16651-16800 had been pretty consistently off over the past few fills). The other three off modules are still off. |
