EPD install 2025
Well ... it's probably the last time we will do this... Mike and I kicked the electronics a bit earlier and were able to take pedAsPhys and pedestal RhicClock.
We did this by checking for reasonable pedestals via:
ssh -A -Y you@ssh.sdcc.bnl.gov
ssh -A -Y stargw.starp.bnl.gov
ssh -A -Y trg@startrg.starp.bnl.gov
ssh l2ana01.trg.bnl.local
cd online_l2/ped
So while folks were installing the West side, I checked the East side.
First, I went to the control at: https://dashboard1.star.bnl.gov/daq/EPD_UI/?EPD
I had turned on the VME, CAMAC crates and East side TUFF. I gained expert control and then did a 1wire scan, then switched to physics. Once that seemed to work, I did:
Run 26072005 - Pedestal Rhicclock clean with zeros from 2023 folder (vped = 50, vset = 0)
Run 26072006 - PedestalAsPhys for Pattern 2
Run 26072007 - Pedestal Rhicclock clean with last years values
We get to the files via:
ssh -A -Y rjreed@ssh.sdcc.bnl.gov
ssh -A -Y stargw.starp.bnl.gov
ssh evpops@daqman
cd /RTS/conf/epd/
Clicking physics on the GUI reads in whatever file is in EPD_TUFFmap.txt
On the stargw I already updated my reader from last year.... So that is currently living in:
/ldaphome/rjreed/EpdReader2025
I do seem to get an error in init when compiling in starnew.... It did run, with some errors such as:
StQAInfo: QAInfo: Cpu Times: all threads = 0.001265510 seconds
StQAInfo: StIOMaker: Event: 1000 Run: 26072006 EventId: 0
StInfo: StTriggerDataMaker Make() found new data formt with version = 21101247
i= 32 d=aafabbfa crt= 16 adr=0x14 ch= 21 oldch= 21 adc=3066 tdc= 26 OrderWrong!
Not sure how concerned to be....
A quick spot check indicates that there are pedestals in the file for run 006 as expected, so I think it's ok for now.
Then to get files from hpss:
You can find the files via commands like: hsi ls /home/starsink/raw/daq/2025/072
I did need to use command "kinit" and "aklog" for this to work.
Then my file had a line like:
/home/starsink/raw/daq/2025/072/26072007/st_pedestal_26072007_raw_0000001.daq /star/data03/daq/2025/072/26072007/st_pedestal_26072007_raw_0000001.daq
issue command 'hpss_user.pl -f listoffiles.list'
to check the status of the transfer, issue command 'hpss_user.pl -p'
To check the dark current, you can use the CompareDark macro attached here. This reads in 2 files (you can generate these files by clicking on the Save As button from the GUI. Unfortunately with the chaos at the end of last run, I didn't take a good file to check.... But we can compare to the previous run, other than the bias voltages are different. (They are listed in the files that are recorded, so it is useful for comparison). I attach the files and the pictures are below.
