Abstract | : | Master Degree Thesis - A. Bhattarcharjee A fast track reconstruction algorithm based on a modified Hough transfrom has been developed and studied for STAR experiment at RHIC. It is based on a distributed implementation of a local transform of the space hit points to generate track templates. This is done on a set of slices of the event in parallel by multiple processes. The resutls produced by the multiple processes are merged back by a single process. The algorithm is reasonably fast and quite accurate. The thesis discuss other tracking methods and compare the pros and cons of various approches. The technique presented needs improvement but holds some promises for reconstruction speed. |
