Update 05.21.2019 -- Run 9 pp: Comparing Efficiency Using Only Pions And Tighter QA Cuts
Following up on the previous post:
https://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/blog/dmawxc/update-05182019-run-9-pp-checking-efficiency-using-ptdet-numerator
We wanted to compare our efficiency to Matt Cervante's using the same cuts (or as close as we can)... So the "efficiency" (really the ratio of the, smeared, pTdet spectrum to the pTpar spectrum) was made using these QA cuts:
- Only generated pi+- were considered (though no nSigma cuts were applied to the reconstructed tracks)
- Nfit >= 20
- Nfit/Nposs >= 0.52
- dca < 1 cm
- |eta| < 1
- pTtrk > 0.2 GeV/c
The Nfit, dca, and eta cuts are definitely consistent. However, the Nfit/Nposs cut might differ slightly (though that shouldn't be a huge effect). Here is our efficiency:
And here is the comparison:
Looks great! All things considered, these are extremely consistent. We can now be confident that the efficiency we're calculating is indeed correct, and the efficiency we should expect for our cuts should be around 85%.
