dE/dx calibration 2015 pp200 (T0 update)

After T0 correction the dE/dx resolution for 2014 pp200 sample is slightly improved
(RunXV11 is before T0 correction, RunX19 after it).

Single particle Simulations :

0.5M single particle in geant and photons recontructed are used see detector responde.  eta = 2.2-4.4, E =  1-200 GeV uniformly thrown.

Discussion on RHIC BES-2 run plan with LEReC

2015-10-20 13:30

Tuesday, 20 October 2015
CAD building 911 LCR, at 17:30 (GMT), duration : 01:00
Summary

 1) STAR Collaboration and CAD have a good understanding of each other's plan and goals

   for a successful BES-II

2) LEReC project is well under its way now at the construction phase.

     LEReC cooling possible at 11.5GeV

3) LEReC phase-II (or higher energy cooling for 12--20GeV) is off the table.

However, we expect a factor of 3 increase in luminosity at these energies

with more beam intensity. A demonstration test will be performed in run16 or run17.

4) STAR presented in whitepapers and proposal for BES-II a table of requested numbers of events

   at  five beam energies (7.7, 9.1, 11.5, 14.5 and 19.6 GeV center-of-mass) with 7 major physics

topics. The requested numbers of events are the desired events we should strive to

achieve so that we can maximize our scientific goals from BES-II.

As a contingency, the event number required for the net-proton Kurtosis measurement

at each energy is the minimum for a viable physics program

5) To maximize our operation efficiency, the default plan is to start at highest energies

and interleave with cooling commissioning with lowest energy running last. However,

the experimental preference is to have the lowest energy dataset as early as practical.

6) With the needed commissioning time for LEReC and no cooling at

higher energies, longer run (24 weeks instead of 22 weeks) and/or additional year

may be required if the minimum goals could not be achieved.
